Taking Action on Police Brutality from Home (Part I)

Last updated: June 7, 2020

As part of our response to the murders of George Floyd and other Black folks by police and government authorities and as part of our ongoing advocacy initiatives, WH SeniorLink has prepared this list of ways to participate in the spring and summer 2020 police brutality protest movements from home.

This guide is targeted to older adults and other folks who wish to advocate but are unable to leave their homes, whether because of COVID-19, mobility issues, or other. In doing this, WH SeniorLink is inspired by the work of Cate Young, who started the #BirthdayforBreonna campaign and told Refinery29 “I'm immunocompromised so I can't be on the streets right and I felt like I wanted to be involved but I felt helpless… I wanted to figure out how to do something from home.” Cate Young and Zosha Millman prepared their own list of ways to contribute and take action here.

The list of opportunities is far from exhaustive, draws heavily on other inventories of opportunities to support the movement, and will be updated on an ongoing basis. Inclusion on the list of a movement, other organization, or other entity is not necessarily an endorsement or indication of any type of vetting.*
